Prices are one way, at the saver or lowest published level, and apply only when award seats are open. Rows marked “From” or “About” are dynamic and move with demand. Taxes and carrier charges are extra; they are small on most of these, but large on Emirates and on British Airways flights booked through American.
What Changed in 2026
- Lufthansa First stopped being bookable with partner miles from June 1, 2026. It is now available mainly through Lufthansa’s own Miles & More, at dynamic prices, so it is not in the table.
- Aeroplan raised its partner chart on June 1, 2026: business to Europe beyond 4,000 miles went from 70,000 to 75,000, and first from 100,000 to 120,000.
- American raised Japan Airlines awards with a connection to 100,000 in first and 80,000 in business in summer 2026. Nonstops stayed at 80,000 and 60,000.
- Emirates raised award prices about 15% on May 20, 2026. New York to Dubai in first went from 163,500 to 188,000.
- Cathay Pacific raised Asia Miles business prices on May 1, 2026: 91,000 for 5,001 to 7,500 miles and 119,000 beyond. First was unchanged.
How to Book One of These
- Search for an open award seat first, on the airline you will book through or with an award search tool.
- Check the taxes and carrier charges before you commit.
- Transfer the points only once you have found the seat. Transfers cannot be reversed.
- Book quickly; premium award seats go fast. Some partner awards, such as ANA through Virgin Atlantic, must be booked by phone.

Is First Class Worth the Extra Miles?
Often not over business. On the routes in the table, first costs about 20,000 to 90,000 more miles one way than business, and fewer airlines still fly it. It is worth it when the cash fare is extreme: NerdWallet found a Los Angeles to Paris first class fare of $18,606, against which almost any first class award is a strong use of miles.
