How many miles do you get when you transfer bank points? At most Amex and Chase partners, one point becomes one mile. The exceptions matter: Amex sends Cathay Pacific and Emirates 4 miles for every 5 points, JetBlue 200 for every 250, and Hilton 2 points for every 1. Chase sends Hyatt 3 points for every 4 from the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred. Transfers to Delta and JetBlue from Amex carry a small fee.

Transfer Bonuses

Both banks run occasional bonuses, usually 15% to 30% to one partner for a few weeks. Frequent Miler counted about 15 Amex bonuses in the 12 months to September 2026. Enter the bonus in the calculator to see what you receive. A bonus is only worth acting on if you already have a use for the miles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transfer Amex points to United?

No. United is not an Amex partner. Amex points can book United flights through Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles, ANA or KrisFlyer; see how to use Amex points on United.

Can I transfer Amex points to Hyatt?

Not directly. Hyatt is a Chase partner, not an Amex one. See what works for Hyatt.

How long do transfers take?

Most are instant. At Amex, ANA takes about a day, Cathay 4 to 8 hours, and Iberia, Qatar and KrisFlyer 12 to 24 hours. At Chase, KrisFlyer and Marriott can take up to about 72 hours.
