No. You cannot transfer Amex points to Hyatt directly. World of Hyatt is not one of American Express’s 20 transfer partners. The bank points that do transfer to Hyatt are Chase Ultimate Rewards and Bilt. One indirect route opened on July 15, 2026, through Air Canada Aeroplan, but it is open only to Aeroplan members with elite status and it costs two Amex points for every Hyatt point.
My company buys both Amex and Hyatt points, so I follow how each of them moves. Here is the straight answer, the one workaround and its real cost, and what Amex points can do for a hotel stay instead.

Category 8 tops out at 75,000 points. Hyatt is not an Amex transfer partner: Chase Sapphire Reserve transfers 1:1, Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred 4:3, and Bilt 1:1 through December 31, 2026.
The One Indirect Route, and Why I Would Not Use It
Amex points transfer to Air Canada Aeroplan at 1:1. Since July 15, 2026, Aeroplan members who hold Elite Status and link their accounts can convert Aeroplan points to World of Hyatt points at 2:1, with a minimum of 500 Aeroplan points and a limit of 100,000 a day or 250,000 a week, according to Air Canada and NerdWallet.
So 2 Amex points become 1 Hyatt point. On The Points Guy’s October 2026 numbers, that is 4 cents of Amex value turned into 1.65 cents of Hyatt value, a loss of more than half. The Amex step cannot be reversed. And if you do not have Aeroplan elite status, the route does not exist for you at all.
What Changed for Hyatt Points in 2026
- A new award chart. For bookings from May 20, 2026, Hyatt replaced off-peak, standard and peak pricing with five levels: Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper and Top. On the same day 136 hotels changed category, 112 of them upward, Upgraded Points reported.
- Higher ceilings. The Top price is 33% to 67% above the old peak price, depending on category, per NerdWallet. A Category 8 hotel can now cost 75,000 points a night, against 45,000 at the old peak.
- Fewer 1:1 doors in. Chase cut the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred to 4:3 on October 1, and Bilt follows on January 1, 2027.
- Aeroplan. The 2:1 conversion for Aeroplan elite members began July 15.

What Amex Points Can Do for a Hotel Stay Instead

Hotel point values are The Points Guy’s for October 2026, and the Leaders Club figure is from its guide to that partner. The same site values an Amex point at 2.0 cents, so on these numbers only the Leaders Club transfer holds its value, and its prices are dynamic. A 30% Hilton bonus is running through October 14, 2026, which lifts Hilton to about 1 cent per Amex point.

If Hyatt Is Where You Want to Stay
- Earn Chase points on a Sapphire Reserve. The Sapphire Reserve cards keep the 1:1 rate. See Chase transfer partners and Amex Platinum vs. Chase Sapphire Reserve.
- Use Bilt before the end of the year. The 1:1 rate ends December 31, 2026.
- Buy the last few thousand points. Hyatt sells points at 2.6 cents each, up to 55,000 a year, and its sales usually take 20% to 30% off, per One Mile at a Time. That is more than a point is worth, so it only makes sense to close a small gap. Our post on whether it is worth buying hotel points covers the math.
- Do not convert Amex points through Aeroplan unless you have no other use for them and already hold Aeroplan status.
If You Have Points You Will Not Use
Brokers, including The Points King, buy both Membership Rewards and World of Hyatt points for cash. Selling Membership Rewards points is against the program’s terms, which say you can’t sell your points and let American Express take points away or cancel your card account.
