The United Quest Card is a United Airlines credit card issued by Chase. It costs $350 a year. Each year it gives back $200 in United TravelBank cash, a 10,000-mile discount on an award flight, and two free checked bags each for the cardholder and one companion. If you fly United a few times a year and check bags, those three benefits cover the fee. If you do not, they will not.

Does the Fee Pay for Itself?
Start with $350 and subtract only what you will use.
- $200 in TravelBank cash. It works like money toward a United ticket. If you buy at least one a year, the fee is down to $150.
- The 10,000-mile award discount. At 1.2 cents a mile, the value we use in our United miles to dollars guide, that is about $120. It needs an award that includes a United-operated flight, with the cardholder traveling. That brings the fee to about $30.
- Checked bags. Two free bags each way for two people make up the rest for anyone who travels with luggage.
A cardholder who spends $20,000 in a calendar year gets a second 10,000-mile discount, according to One Mile at a Time.
The Smaller Credits
Upgraded Points lists five more: up to $150 a year at Renowned Hotels and Resorts, up to $150 on JSX, up to $100 in rideshare credits with a yearly opt-in, up to $80 on Avis or Budget rentals booked through United, and up to $180 a year at Instacart through December 31, 2027. Each has its own conditions. Count only the ones you would have paid for anyway.
The card also covers a Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS fee, up to $120 every four years, and gives 25% back on United inflight food, drinks and Wi-Fi.
Status and Boarding
The card earns 1 Premier qualifying point for every $20 spent, up to 18,000 a year. Upgraded Points also reports a 1,000-point bonus each year from the second year. Boarding is Group 2 on United-operated flights.
Who Should Skip It
- You fly United once a year or less. The TravelBank cash will be hard to use and the award discount harder.
- You never check bags and rarely book awards. Then the card costs a net $150 a year for the extra miles on flights.

If You Have United Miles You Will Not Use
Brokers, including The Points King, buy United miles for cash. Selling them is against United’s MileagePlus rules, and United can forfeit the miles and terminate the membership. Read the risks of selling miles and points first, then see what United miles sell for.
